Bernard was a very learned man who shared his valuable knowledge for the health and wellbeing of both the people he encountered and the animals he was so dedicated to. His care and expertise made a huge difference to our quality of life for which we are most grateful. Rest in peace Bernard and enjoy your well deserved eternal reward.

Bernard was ones of life’s gentlemen. He was such an interesting person and had a wealth of knowledge which he loved sharing. I always found his energy infectious and he gave so much of his time to help those in need. Forever grateful.

In my desire to pay tribute to Bernard I forgot to extend my sincere condolences to his wife and family. I apologies for this omission.

I have read the many tributes paid to Bernard. I want to tell you a story of generosity and trust. Myself and three others in our early twenties were returning home from bringing two people to Danny O'Neill the bonesetter in Myshall Co. Carlow. This was in 1972 or 1973 and about midnight. My car broke down on the Clash side of Aughrim. We were stranded. Then a car came along heading for Aughrim. He stopped and asked us what had happened. I explained what had happened. He asked me if I would drive a Volkswagen and brought me back to his house. He did not know me but knew cousins who lived in Tinnakilly. He gave the keys of a new Volkswagen and asked me to bring it back the next day. I did that. I have never come across such a kind act . I never met Bernard again until about 30+ years later when we both served on committee together. Rest in deserved peace Bernard.

I have fond memories of Bernard as a vet attending to my late Uncle Eamon Coogan's cattle so many years ago, he was a real good vet, everything got well that he attended to. May Bernard Rest in Peace and be rewarded for all his good deeds.
