I recall the days when he would do the Mass readings and did so with passion. I was deeply saddened to hear of Bernard’s passing. Please accept my heartfelt condolences, especially to his wonderful wife Sheila, and to John, Nuala (ESB), Bernard Jr. and Claire.

Going through life we meet many — but some stand out as quietly remarkable. Bernard was one such gentleman, a colleague and mentor who combined professionalism with genuine warmth. I first had the pleasure of meeting him up in Co. Mayo on HV projects, his hunter-green Citroën Xantia, tweed cap and wax jacket, like a true country gentleman.

We worked briefly side by side in the mid- to late ’90s, and I’ll never forget how his honesty, friendship and integrity guided his dedication and professionalism at work. Yet his kindness and steady wisdom left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.

He was a private family man, and Community meant everything to Bernard. May his memory continue to inspire all those who had the privilege of knowing him. Wishing Sheila and the entire Family and Friends m, much strength and comfort in the days ahead. Bernard’s legacy will live on in the values he taught many of us. May he rest in eternal peace. Thinking of you at this difficult time. May Bernard now rest in eternal peace. Amen 🙏🏻
