So sorry to hear of Mr Kearney's passing. I have such fond memories of him and I'm so grateful to have known him. He was a pure gentleman, full of kindness, good humor and wisdom - always so young at heart. My deepest condolences to all of his wonderful family at this sad time.

Found memories from my personal teenage years in Tara Street Baths swimming and Dublin Swimming Club.The Kearney 5 Brothers formed their own swimming club and booked an hour for their own personal use with Mickey Connolly in Tara St. Nobody else was allowed enter. This caused great jealousy, simply because nobody else ever thought to form a private club and have an hours private swimming!. Bernard was well known swimming along the the beach in Silver Strand many happy days shared there over the years. A Dubliner and true gentleman will be sadly missed.

So sad for the passing of Bernard this week. Fond memories of him and Maeve as such good neighbours to our parents and us growing up next door in Drummartin Rd. He was always so thoughtful and caring. The last of his generation to grace this road with his unique character and good company.

Bernard was the ultimate gentleman who always had time to spend chatting with others and was one of the most uplifting people we have ever known. We remember in particular an image of Bernard crossing the grass in Silver Strand with his deckchair and the kids running after him as he went for his swim.
