I was very sorry to hear of the death of Bernard. I got to know him a little in St Joseph's Nursing Home in Manchester when I visited my mum. He had a great love for Donegal and a loved a bit of banter. A very intelligent man. He will be missed.
Our deepest sympathy to Bernard's extended family he was a gentleman may his gentle soul rest in peace
Sincere sympathy to all of Bernards's family. I met him several times in London. He was a cheerful lovely gentleman. Very intelligent, compassionate, and a great man to make brown bread. Rest in peace Bernard.
Deepest condolences to all Bernard’s family on his sad passing.. what an interesting life he had .May he Rest In Peace.🙏🙏
My sincere sympathy to Bernard's nieces and nephew and all his relatives and friends. I met him on many occasions when he visited them in Dublin. He may have worked in the UK but in his heart he never left Ireland. All his life he witnessed to his love of God and to his great faith in heroic ways. The bed of Heaven to you Bernard, may you Rest in Peace.
Deepest sympathy to all the Mc Devitt family in your sad loss
A kind caring gentleman is how I always found him a very clever man who left Ireland in poorer days than today and in his gentle humble manner achieved the highest rank in the medical profession ,,he was area manager of Rochdale area Health Authority and served as a magistrate in Manchester Crown court
He spent his life in the UK but his heart was always in Donegal
Bernard was kind and caring in his professional life and everyday life
In olden days he saw many Irish girls and boys work as domestics in his hospitals
Having left ireland with little education at the time
He encouraged many to train as nurses ,,they qualified and worked their way to staff nurses and matrons
Many remaking life long friends in return
I met Bernard 50 years ago as I searched for work after graduating from College
He employed me as a porter in Monsal hospital in Manchester
He also supported my youngest sister many years ago when she was going through a rough patch in life
My family to this day respect all you did at the time
You are now at peace and enjoying eternal happiness and bliss
Rest peace fully Bernard in Frosses
We all miss you
You were one of the best
Deepest sympathy to all your family and George who cared you so well
My God console you all at this sad time
Ray
