Bernard was one of the kindest, most generous, hard working and gentle men I have had the pleasure to know. He had a great sense of humour and I remember him telling entertaining and interesting stories of his time in the merchant navy. He will be greatly missed.

My dearest Bernard, the last 6 months of caring for you, have really lightened up my life. To the stories of your long and very well lived life, to the absolute gratitude you showed for my care. Who knew we used to live in the same town together at some point in our lives. You made every single morning a delight for me and I'm missing you so much. My love goes out to Des and Ray and to Rudo and the rest of the family.

Bernard was a wonderful husband to my cousin Bridie, and cared for her with great devotion particularly during her illness. He often spoke with pride of Raymond and of Desmond and his family. He had a lively curiosity and wide interests, always ready for an interesting chat. The Foleys remember him most fondly.
