Bernie, when I needed a favour, you were there. I never forgot that kindness. The world is poorer when decent people leave us. It is certainly poorer today. Rest in peace.

So sorry to hear of Bernie's passing. She was like a second mother to me when l younger .

We would like to offer our deepest sympathy to Johnny, Mark, Orla and the extended family on the sad passing of Bernie. Bernie was a real lady who loved to chat and discuss the major ongoings of the day. Bernie was very proud of the family. She also put a huge amount of time and effort into the back lane restaurant and we remember many lovely breakfasts during our visits there. Rest in peace Bernie.

I was shocked and saddened to hear that Bernie had passed. After a long gap, I was lucky enough to talk to her and Johnny in person several years back. Bernie was still the clever, warm, humorous person I remember from years ago. She was always curious and well-informed about the state of the world and was interested in hearing what others had to say about the subjects of the day. Bernie was always the first to offer to help people - she helped me, my brother and my sister just because she could. It would have been easier not to bother, but that wasn't her way; she preferred to do the decent thing.

We've lost a little bit of colour in the world now we've lost Bernie, and my best regards go to Johnny, Mark and Orla, her son and daughter-in-law, her grandchildren and all her immediate family. I don't remember Bernie being religious, but I hope she'll forgive me if I add Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam. Go and see Eileen.
Deeply saddened at the news of Bernie's death. Spent many happy hours in her company especially during the time she was running Mother Redcap's Restaurant in Back Lane. She will always be remembered by her many friends for her good humour and kindness. My deepest sympathy to Johnny and family.

So sorry to hear about Bernie.. What a lady worked for her in mother redcaps back in the day and she was a great Boss. Such a beautiful caring and understanding lady. Condolences to all her family. R.I.P and thank you for your kindness.
Very sad to hear this, she was a fantastic woman, so generous and full of warmth. I'm sure she will be missed by all who knew her. Had great times working in the cafe (Mother Redcaps) Bernie was the best and kindest "boss" I ever had, she made us all feel part of the gang. Thinking of all the family at this very difficult time.
