Sincere condolences to all Bernie Carty's relations and close friends on Bernie's recent sad death. RIP..
I've known Bernie for decades and to say that he was a most sincere, cultured and dedicated community worker, is indeed an understatement.
Whether it was his participation in parades like An Fleadh Nua in Ennis with his iconic trailer drawn by his car or his exceptional work in the restoration of the Elphin Windmill, or being one of the founders and workers of the local Comhaltas branch, Bernie was an outstanding community man.

So sad to hear of Bernie's death, he was a true gentleman and a tireless worker for his community, especially the Elphin Windmill which he was very proud of. My sincere condolences to all his relatives and friends, we will all miss him. May he now Rest in Eternal Peace.

He kept such a pretty colourful cottage and gardens, which were his pride and joy. He livened up many St Patrick’s day parades with his lovely floats. May he rest peacefully after a life well lived.

To all of Bernie's friends and family, sincere sympathy on the loss of a wonderful gentleman. His passion for local history, the Elphin windmill and his garden were so interesting and I loved driving by beautiful Sallygarden cottage on my way to Sligo. May you rest in peace Bernie.

Our condolences to Bernie's cousins and friends. Bernie's pride and joy was to promote our windmill for the past 30 years or more and to visit us on regular occasions during his retirement years to give us advice and to bring daffodil bulbs to plant at the windmill.

We are saddened to hear the very sad news of Bernie’s passing. He was such a lovely kind, pleasant man, so intelligent and interesting to chat to.He was a great community man and was always interested in other people’s stories. We met him under unusual circumstances in Roscommon a few years ago, and he kept in touch with our family ever since , always sending the Christmas card,sometimes with a little something like his Rose of Tralee calendar enclosed.We will treasure his “Parade Diary” which he sent us last Christmas. Condolences to his good neighbours, relatives and friends. May his kind and gentle soul rest in peace, reunited with his parents and brother.

Condolences to Bernie's Cousins, Neighbours and his large circle of Friends. Bernie promoted the Elphin Windmill over the last 35 years through newspaper articles and local radio stations. He even did an interview with RTE outside the Windmill only two months ago (yet to be shown), he was a community champion for many voluntary organisations, he organised (within the last three weeks) the planting of over 300 bulbs for daffodil day. He will be missed but not forgotten.

I wish my deepest sympathies to the relatives and neighbours of Bernie Carty. The regard for Bernie is very visible in these posts.
I visited him, from time to time, in his latter years and he was a
fountain of knowledge.
In his lifetime he went from North Roscommon, to Achill Island, Scotland and London and back again to his birthplace.
He enriched his neighborhood with the many projects he became involved in. My friend Carlo Cretaro recorded him for his ''Voices of Boyle Blog and it is a fine record of Bernie's long life.

Deepest condolences to all who mourn Bernie. An absolute treasure in any community. We once did an award winning project on the Windmill in Abbeycartron NS. Bernie invited the children to the Windmill where he had laid on an absolute feast for us all. It meant more to the children than the actual award, being recognised in their own community, thanks to Bernie. Deepest sympathy to the relatives of Bernie. I have fond memories of Bernie attending the Heritage Day's in Riverstown, where he always put on a display. He was very proud to bring his minature cottage to "Beat on the Peat" in Yonkers Raceway, New York, in 1994. Bernie loved all things vintage.
