Sincere sympathy to the Deery family on the passing of Bernie. She was one of my best friends in Dun Lughaidh during the Senior cycle , fifth and sixth year. She was a great character, wonderful sense of humour, witty and great fun. I was very saddened to hear of her passing, through a mutual friend. May she rest in peace.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Bernie’s passing. She was always such a lovely woman with a smile for all! I know many students really looked up to and respected her dearly for her help. I was gutted not to get her for Leaving Cert English. She was always very kind to me, especially when I returned to work as a substitute teacher in my early years as a new teacher, for which I’m eternally grateful. Sincere condolences to Daniel and family. I was very saddened to hear of Bernie’s passing. One of the most influential teachers I ever had, I was always struck by how much she seemed to really enjoy her job and the enthusiasm she had for her students. She was warm, kind and very funny - some of her one-liners still make me laugh out loud to this day!
