Very sorry to hear of the passing of Bernie, or "Mrs Reid" as she was always known to me. An extremely kind and thoughtful woman who was the first to visit our house the day of my own mam's passing in 2011. A woman who, along with a few others on the road, was always making collections for the widows and widowers of those who departed too soon in the locality. And my own dad recalled with fondness a time in the 1970s when he asked if he could use her phone to ring a taxi to take one of us to the hospital and she gave him the keys to her car, asking nothing in return. He never forgot that act of kindness and compassion. I know Bernie was ill for some time and while it's awful to hear of her passing, I'm glad her suffering has ended. Condolences to Alison, Derek, Bryan, David and the extended Reid family. May Bernie now rest in peace.
