I have many fond memories of bus trips to Borrisokane, Nenagh and Thurles for hurling and football games with teams from the old Vocational School and in more recent times to Nenagh for table quizes with Conradh na Gaeilge.
I recall with fondness great chats about life, but especially about hurling, which he loved greatly and about which he knew so much.

I got to know Bertie when he drove the Tipperary minors from North Tipp to training. He had a great relationship with the young players and they respected him as a friend. He was kind, he was fun, he was a lovely person.
