My deepest condolences to the family from all of Betty's cousins in the States. Betty was my grandmother's niece and my mother's first cousin. Although I never had a chance to meet her in person, we had several lovely long phone calls about the family, and she was kind enough to send me some of the correspondence she had with my grandmother Mary Forde Burns. I am very grateful.

Very sorry for your loss Barry, Trish, Eleana and the wider Roche family. I fondly remember your Mother's hospitality and vitality, that lively intelligence and warn sense of humour. Ní bheidh a leithéid arís ann.

Dear Barry, Trish, Elena and Áine and your family. My deepest sympathies on the passing of Betty. i met her several times with Barry and had the honour to carry her late husband, Paddy, to his final resting place outside Blarney, fittingly saluted by a whistle from the Cork-Dublin train which carried on the wind across the valley. She had to endure many years without him but was a lovely, dignified woman who was always warm, pleasant and full of good humour. She had a long and good life. May she rest in peace. Take care of yourselves at this sad time.
