My siblings and I have very fond memories of Billy during our childhood and early teenage years many, many years ago when Billy would visit our grandma's house on Clonliffe Road. Billy was always friendly, chatty, had a great sense of humour and of course always had his kit bag with him. Thank you for the warm memories Billy. Codladh sámh.🖤

We were lifelong friends . So many stories . When I joked that he came from a part of the Baxter clan that couldn’t spell he said that the Germans knew how to spell Rhine properly. I’ll miss you son and continue to watch out for the Spurs results .

If there is a place in the Next Life for devoted footballers, Billy will be there with a prominent place in the dug-out. He will be constantly spotting the next up-coming midfielder and ranking him/her against the best there was in Serie A.
Those of us who shared his love of the game will never forget his enthusiasm. Sincerest condolences to his family at this sad time.

So sorry to learn of the passing of Billy, a wonderful character and an inspirational football leader, who, with his deep knowledge of opponant players, inspired his teams to battle for him deep in the trenches and eek out many inspirational results. In his time at Monaghan United and particularly leading his beloved 'bluerinse brigade' he lifted a community and earned a love and iconic status in County Monaghan which has never dimmed. There is much sadness amongst the football community. Deepest sympathy to Mary and to his extended family and friends. Rest easy Billy.
