Sincere condolences to Gail and the Hogan Family. I have fond memories of working with him for many years in IIRS (Bill was on the panel when I was called for interview). As already expressed by former colleagues, I found Bill to be a true professional, a real gentleman who had a great sense of humour. Unforunately I was away and couldnt attend the funeral. May he rest in peace.

— Rita Ward ex IIRS
I worked closely with Bill in IIRS. He played a big part in my career with his knowledge, his attention to detail and his encouragement. I found him to be a true professional who was generous with his time. In the years I worked with him I genuinely never heard a bad word said about him. Unfortunately I will be out of the country and can’t attend his funeral. My deepest condolences to his wife and family on the loss of a true gentleman.
— Tony Horan
Deepest sympathy to Gail and Bill's extended family on the very sad news of his sudden passing - may his gentle soul rest in peace. Regretfully, I will be unable to attend Bill's funeral service on Monday
— Paddy Hopkins IIRS / Eolas / EI
I would also like to add my words of sadness and sympathy to those already expressed by colleagues from IIRS and its related organisations. I have very fond memories of Bill. I always enjoyed chatting with him; he could liven a conversation on any subject.

Unfortunately I am out of Dublin at the moment and therefore will be unable to be at the ceremony for Bill on Monday.

I am saddened to hear about Bill's passing away. I worked with him in IIRS / Eolas / forbairt, before he moved to forfas.
He was a lovely person and a true gentleman. I also played many Chess games with him. My deepest condolence goes to his family.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam! A colleague in the IIRS before I moved on in 1979, I looked forward to meeting him at various pensioner dinners. I being a Gaeilgeoir, he reminded me than he had a aunt (or relative who had being active in Irish speaking circles. Unfortunately I will not be able to attend neither at Staffords or at the crematorium on Monday.
— Liam Ó hAlmhain
Gail and family, our condolences to you on the passing of Bill.
— Paul and Grainne Clandillon
I am greatly saddened to learn of Bill's passing. He and I were colleagues in Forfas/Eolas. Following his retirement we enjoyed regular get-togethers. He was a much admired and friendly colleague and will be missed.

Gail
I was very sorry to hear about Bill's death earlier this week. Bill was a great colleague and friend in Forfas and I thoroughly enjoyed working with him in the Evaulation Unit prior to my move to Trinity where you and I then became colleagues. I would like to offer you and your family my sincerest sympathy at this very sad time.

Unfortunately, as I am out of Dublin I will not be able to join you and your family and Bill's friends and former colleagues in the celebration of his life on Monday. You will be in my thoughts.

Dear Gail, I was saddened to learn of Bill's death. We were good friends in the old IIRS until its ill-considered abolition. He was a much admired and loved colleague. As you know we have remained in touch since retirement and we last met at the annual IIRS/NBST lunch earlier this year. Creeda and I fondly remember our exciting visit to your lovely house in Sarasota. May your memories of Bill console you at this sad time.
