Dear Fergus and family,
Sorry to hear of you father's passing. I hope you have great memories to see you through this tough time. RiP.
Bill was kind enough to take the time to write to me when my dad Gerry died in 2015. It was a rare occasion to find myself reading flattering words from Bill about a banker!
It was much appreciated at the time. I particularly remember he referencing my dad's love for his grandchildren which was an insight on which Bill himself had great authority....RIP

I worked with Bill for many years at Lisheen and we worked through a few crises together.
He was a genuine inspiration and was a calm head in difficult times. The number of people who have reached out in the last week to share stories of Bills wit and wisdom is a testament to this.

Dear Bill,

Although I never had the luck and pleasure to meet you in person,
I’ve had the intense pleasure to appreciate your wittiness and humour through Fergus’s tellings.

Your memory will inextricably be intertwined with Murphy and his law,
through “Your old Irish saying” (hereinafter referred to as Bill’s law):

Níl plean ann, ní bheidh fadhb ar bith ann
No plan there is, No problem there’ll be

I sincerely hope that Fergus will keep on sharing your tellings.

Marc and the “Knoestig GeKnot”-team

Deepest sympathy to all the Power family on the death of Bill. Thinking of you all at this sad time. I’m so glad I got to see Bill again while Haruka and the children and I were on holiday in Tramore. He had such a keen intellect and was living life to the full, cycling about the place, playing table tennis, gardening and making jam. I felt quite in awe of him. I hope it's not frowned on to write a second condolence but a reference in another message reminded me of something else about Bill, which I would like people to know.

When my Mum died 28 years ago, Bill sent me a long letter which was the most wonderful pen picture of both my parents, my father, Tom Power (Bill's uncle) and my mother, Mary.

It was beautifully written (of course!) and an incredibly accurate portrayal of their characters. I passed on copies to my five children and to my grandchildren.

It's a unique treasure for future generations to have the privilege of an intimate record of what these two wonderful ancestors were really like.

It meant so much to me and to my sisters, Mary and Grace.
