I'm very saddened to hear that Billy has passed away. Sincere condolences to all of Billy's family and friends.
I have many very fond and lasting memories of participating in many enjoyable events which Billy organised at Aontas Ogra. This includes visits to Courtown, seeing Luke Kelly and Ronnie Drew and the rest of The Dubliners perform at Siamsa Cois Laoi and taking part in youth drama competitions. Thank you, Billy for all your efforts, enthusiasm and good works for the youth of Athy over the decades. You are greatly missed.

What a difference Billy made to so many young people of Athy through the year's......rest well now Billy your very much remembered and will be by so many generations

I spent many an evening with Billy — in Aontas Ógra, during Easter holidays on Inis Oírr, and at movie nights and card games in his house in Páirc Bhríde.

I will always remember Billy. I knew him as a kind, generous man with a wonderfully wry sense of humor and the patience of a saint for putting up with me and my friends' teenage antics.

You would always see Billy in his white coat as he pottered about in his duties in Perry's supermarket.
I was one of the many teenagers that passed through Aontas Ogra. There were several trips to Courtown during the summer with BBQs on the beach at Ballymoney, and off to Galway and Inis Mór for Easter. As we got older, there were jars of pennies for card games in Brownes.
He was a generous and kind man who gave freely of his time.

When I was a teenager in Athy Billy was a good friend. He taught me how to ride a motorbike and I went with him on several excursions; Courtown, Galway, Wicklow. We hung out with him after closing hours above the L&N. I will always remember him as a generous and fun loving man who never lectured, but gave freely of his time and friendship. Very sad to hear of his passing. May he rest in peace.

My condolences to Billy's relations.
I remember with great affection the early days of Aontas Ógra in the late 1950s when Noel Dunne and Billy got the club going. What fun we had, putting on concerts in St John's Hall, céilí dancing at Dunamase, and in the Town Hall, outings to Courtown and Salthill, and more. He did so much for the young people of Athy that I hope the local authorities will ensure in some way that his contribution to the town will be acknowledged for posterity.

We took part in ceilis, 100 mile cycles, discos , the summer projects to name a few. He was a man that gave everything for the youth no matter what walk of life you came from.
