So sorry to hear of Billy's passing, what a wonderful gentleman who looked after my team at Christmas for 7 years when we stayed at the Shannon Oaks and a visit to his Bar was the highlight of our trip to Portumna. My condolences to Mary, Liam, Majella and Rosemarie on this sad occasion.
While I remember his patience during the summers of the early ’80’s when we teenagers hijacked his house as a pre- and post- disco meeting haunt and took over the back room of the bar as a rock-band rehearsal room!
Later, older, I enjoyed the interesting chats he had with my father, Eamon, in the bar on a Saturday or Sunday night, both sharing their stories of the history of Portumna and its people,
I echo so many other condolences before me - there goes one of life’s “gentlemen”.
