Karl, Alan, Simon, I've just seen that your beautiful mum passed. My condolences to you all and your families. What a wonderful woman she was. So much of my childhood is engrained with happy memories of all of you. Love to you all and prayers for Bláthnaid 💕
Our deepest sympathies to Karl, Alan, Simon, and all your family on the passing of Bláthnaid.
May she rest in peace.
She will be dearly missed. We hold fond memories of her from Gorey.
I have such fond memories of my trips to Gorey and visiting Bláthnaid and the Lollipop Cottage – it was always a highlight. Your mum was truly an inspiration. I loved her passion and her zest for life. As a young child coming from Mayo to Gorey, the chance to visit her was something I always looked forward to. She really taught me that age is just a number and showed the importance of enjoying and truly living life.

Thinking of you all at this difficult time.
Grace McGee
(Daughter of Catriona Sunderland – my granny used to look after your mum)

Dear family and friends of Blathnaid
My sincere sympathy on the passing of Blathnaid
A long time ago I headed up from TCD to Pelican House...leaving a few hours later minus the blood but plus a part time job!! The Blathnaid McGinty tornado had struck!!!
My late mum Eilis and Blathnaid were great friends..part of the gang of early morning swimmers in Killiney Castle Hotel. When we lost Dad March 2019..the swimming gals were fantastic to mum...and it was no surprise to hear that Blathnaid was brilliant and top of the "gang of gals"
There is only one Blathnaid McGinty!
In the vernacular you loved Blathnaid....Ni bheidh do leithead aris. O mo mhathair 's me fhein mile mile buiochas.
Slan abhaile
Ta ras iontach rithe agat
Tog sos beag..b'fheidir la amhain 's tar eis sin tabhair cabhair do Naomh Peadar 's An Neamh ar siul! Nil bean nios fearr!
Le gra Niamh 's Eilis xx

Alan, verry sorry i was unable to convey my sympathy to you in Person in Dalkey. She would always speak to me about you and yours whenever we met- usually in Dalkey. She loved you all and the Family - indeed lived for you all.She really was a great character and will greatly be missed.
Sue Ryder Dalkey has been enriched by the presence of Blathnaid MacGinty. She brought to bear her gifts, given generously, of intelligence, enthusiasm and whole-hearted engagement to every activity and every encounter with each of us. She challenged, she lifted spirits, brought laughter and warmth. There could be a very long list of attributes here but, to bring them into one basket, she was a sparkling presence that warmed the very heart of the place. We are grateful to life for the gift of Blathnaid. Our hearts are deeply touched both with missing you and with gratitude for you. God speed you on your new adventure, Blathnaid.
Simon, Karl and Alan

It is with profound sadness I learnt of he death of Blathnaid.
She was one of life's true unique originals.
Her zest for life and the brilliance of her personality was only exceeded by the breath and fire of her heart which was glowingly evident and generously shared.
It was a joy and privilege to have known her and her beloved Tom.
May she look upon the face of God and be as one with the loves of her heart.
Our Lady's loving hands light the grief of her cherished family at the loss of such a special Mother.
The game is NOT over........only just begun.

Deepest sympathy to the MacGinty clan on the passing of Bláthnaid.
Our sympathy to Bláthnaid’s family, of whom she spoke so proudly. The sadness of her passing is eased by the knowledge her suffering is at an end. Suffering she bore without complaint and courageously. We will miss her glamorous presence on a Sunday taking comfort from happy memories of her humor and wisdom.

To: Karl, Alan, Simon & Extended family members.

I am so saddened to hear of your Mum’s death.

Christmas will not be the same without receiving her beautifully written cards.
Every year without fail, her card arrived with all her news. Forever proud of each and every one of you.
As the years went on, and her writing got shakier, it made her sentiments all the more poignant and beautiful.
For those of us lucky enough to have worked with Bláthnaid, we know only too well how privileged we were. She was the ‘Fairy Godmother’ to us all. If she wasn’t sorting out our uniforms, or helping in the clinic, she was sorting out our personal woes, be they trivial or otherwise. When my dad died Bláthnaid even went as far as to send a lovely note to my Mother, which I still have today.
There is no doubt she was one-of-a kind. Donors also loved her sense of fun and flamboyant presence.
How lovely that she is now reunited with your dad forevermore.

I can just imagine her laughing and smiling in heaven like only Bláthnaid can.

Unfortunately, I can’t be there for her farewell celebration, but will be thinking of you all.
