Sincere condolences to all of Bob’s family on his passing.

Cherished memories of youthful days in Skerries when the social life for the young people of north Fingal revolved around Bob spinning his wizardry on his magical turntables at Skerries Rugby Club.

Difficult to describe today just how central he was to all our lives but, by way of illustration, we have clear recollections of (ultimately successful) strenuous efforts over a period of time at persuading a very elderly parish priest in the diocese of Meath (in 1978 !) that this particular ‘Disc Jockey’’s music would be acceptable inside his church during our wedding ceremony - needless to say, Bob more than justified the efforts and may even have won over a new fan !

Thanks, Bob, for brightening up our lives, and the lives of so many, to the extent that you did, and in such a quiet and unassuming manner too - you were a loyal friend, a gentleman, and a very gentle man too.

My sincere condolences to all of the Hughes family on the passing of my cousin Robert. I can only repeat what everyone else said he was a kind and thoughtful person. He stayed with my mother for a while and when l was there with my children he never came home without something in his hand for them. He even got into his car and chased the ice cream van to get a cone for my youngest as she was crying that it had passed the house. Fond memories. The Alqahtani family Saudi Arabia

To all the family,
Bob was a huge part of the entertainment in my family's life events. From when I was a child I didn't know that Bob wasn't apart of everyone's wedding! He will be sadly missed but has let us with happy memories.

I’m so sad to hear of Bob’s passing. I have the fondest memories of great disco nights in the Rugby Club - once the word went out that Bob was playing then everyone made sure to be there. His music was so good we just danced and danced and forgot all about boys!

Condolences to all the Hughes Family on Bobs passing.May he RIP. Bob was a big part of our family, he was one of the gang. Weddings, Christenings, turning up Christmas Day dressed as Santa. He shared the same birthday as my da which never surprised me always double trouble with the two of them. Monday was always card evening with hughesy. Always a cloud of smoke and nothing but banter coming from the kitchen table.
When we were kids he would always come to the house with sweets for us. He then got the title Uncle Bob. Thats what was he more than a friend, he was family. You will be missed in our home.

My deepest condolences to Robbie, Rachel, David, Patrick and all Bobs family I spent a lot of time with Bob in the 80's in Luciano's in Drogheda, Saints in Howth and Gibney's in Malahide, they were the best of times with great craic and fun nights. One of the best DJ's of that time, a great friend who spoke always of his family with love, he was very kind and thoughtful to others always. A gentleman to his finger tips and a kind soul Rest in Peace Bob You were the Very Best of a Men.

We are all very saddened by Bob’s passing. He was such kind soul and full of mischief. We have many memories. The funniest when he turned up Christmas Day dressed as Santa Claus. Thanks for the laughs and being a great friend to our Dad. You’s were like two kids when you got together. Whatever the occasion. The deck of cards were brought for a game later that evening. You will be sadly missed, especially by Dad. May you rest in peace. Thinking of all your family and friends at this very difficult time.
