Sincere condolences to Daniel's brother and other family members. I taught Daniel over a good number of years at St. James'Catholic High School in Edgware. He was a very fine student and was highly thought of by all his teachers including many nuns of the Dominican Order. In recent years I have been in touch with him and received wonderful "emails" in which he shared memories and described his work in Addis Abbaba.

I have fond memories of the De La Salle Brothers having been a student at Hopwood Hall, Greater Manchester and took many groups to the Retreat Centre at kintbury in Berkshire.

I would very much like to contact his brother Laurence if this is possible.

My address is 19,Knightsbridge Court,Union Street,Chester CH1 1QG

May Daniel R.I.P.

I think it was 43 years ago to the very day that I first met Brother Daniel , I believe it was his first teaching job and where did they send him ? West Belfast at the height of the troubles from leafy Longford , then he met his troubles , his first form class , all 34 of us ! !
He was my form teacher for 5 years , 1D to 5D (D for Daniel) and some of that class for 7 years.
He played such an important role in ours lives and anyone I met in that class years after talked about him fondly... 'I heard he was in America' 'I heard Asia ' then ' I heard downpatrick' one said and as I live not too far I went looking , couldn't find him , he was in Ethiopia after all , alas.
He played such a pivotal role in my early years in La Salle in Belfast and was thought so highly of , really sorry I never met him again.
Such a kind hearted man and beautiful soul who went out of his way for kids like us.
May you rest in eternal peace Daniel , God bless you...
Deepest sympathy to all those who mourn Br Daniel, especially his family, the De La Salle community and his past colleagues and friends. May he rest in eternal peace.
Deepest sympathy to Laurence, extended family, friends and members of the De La salle Community both in Ireland and Ethiopia on the unexpected passing of Br.Danny I had the pleasure of meeting Br Danny on a few occasions when he visited/stayed with his relatives in Drumlish. He was a kind good natured gentleman and will be lovingly remembered by many. No doubt Br.Danny's spirit will live on through the pupils of St. Joseph school Addis Ababa where he was principal and where he encouraged so many pupils to achieve their full potential in their education. May Br.Danny rest in peace.
Rest in Peace Br. Danny, condolences to your family, friends & order. You will be greatly missed by them all.
It was with great sadness that we recently learned of the death of our former friend and colleague, Bro. Daniel.

Bro Daniel taught in La Salle during the ‘80s and ‘90s-during difficult times in the north of Ireland. He worked hard in the school, both as a classroom teacher and through his involvement in extra-curricular activities. As a young teacher, he travelled on school ski trips and was part of the cast in many of the school shows which were synonymous with the Edenmore Drive School in those days.

Bro Daniel earned the respect of staff and pupils alike. As a Year Head, he was regarded as firm and fair.

He helped shape the lives of many pupils who passed through the doors of La Salle, always offering advice and encouragement.

Outside of his teaching duties, Bro Daniel enjoyed the occasional walk from Glanaulin to the Glenowen!

He will always be remembered as one of the popular staff in La Salle.

“God entrusts to you his care of the young.”

Condolences to Brother Daniel’s brother, Laurence and his extended family, and to the De La Salle Brothers in Glanaulin, Belfast; Castletown, Co. Laois and in St. Joseph School, Addis Ababa.

May his gentle soul rest in peace.
