I have read these condolences and can re-echo what they say. Clem was a gentleman, a true Christian and a brother to all with whom he came in contact.

My deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Br Wright. He taught me chemistry for my leaving cert in the late seventies. He certainly did his best for me and I wish I listened to him more than I did. He was highly respected by all his students.

My sincere condolences to the Wright family and Christian Brothers Community on the sad passing of Br Wright.
I have very fond memories meeting and enjoying Br Wright as my teacher in Carlow CBS in the l970's. Always cared about all his students and worked hard in the classroom to encourage all his students. He kept athletics and hurling alive within our school with some notable success. But it was his enthusuasm and passion that really is remembered. It was his way of getting the best out of you and knowing how to do that that sticks in my mind. A man that was deeply respected. A true Christian Brother. May he Rest in Eternal Peace.

My Deepest sympathy to all the Wright family and to all in the Christian Brothers Community on the passing of Br.John Leo ( Clem ) Wright. I spent a number of years on the committee for the National Association for Christian Brothers Past Pupils Union, where i got to know Br Wright a true friend and gentleman in every way. Our sincere condolences to the Wright family on the passing of Leo. Keeping him, and all your family in our prayers.
"Is there anyone there to put two hands on the hurl and pull!" were words we often heard from Bro Wright during our hurling days in Carlow CBS where single handedly he kept the small ball game alive in the 'Academy' where he was immensely popular with students and teachers alike.
Ever before Brian Cody espoused the importance of work-rate on the hurling field Bro Wright had the replica template, this maybe forced on him a little as his ability to inveigle committed footballers, soccer players and even an odd rugby player to take stick in hand so as the school could field a hurling team meant graft would complement craft, and boy did he love graft!
And in May 1976 his motely crew won the Fr Joe Dunphy Cup, the Leinster C SHC but making it all the sweeter was that in the final Carlow CBS beat Castlecomer of Kilkenny and in Nowlan Park too, the game going to extra-time. If ever one man (apart of course from the God Lord himself) had orchestrated a miracle it was Bro Wright that day 50 years ago.
May he rest in peace.

Condolences to Br. Clem's immediate family and his wider community of Brothers on the loss of our former colleague in Carlow, where he is remembered with affection and deep respect by past pupils and ex-colleagues alike. His sincerity and kindness informed everything he did, his passionate promotion of athletics and hurling - and looking out for a lad who might need a bit leeway or understanding.
My sincere condolences to the Wright family and the Christian Brother Community on the passing of Brother Wright to his eternal reward. His dedication to the teaching profession, his religious beliefs and his belief in the well-being of those around him and his students was and is beyond contradiction. Comhbhrón ó chroí leis an gclann uilig ar imeacht John Clement uasal uaibh. I had the privilege of being in community with him. He was exceptionally kind and dedicated totally to the welfare of his students. He was most obliging and a man of common sense who was generous with his time and his always sound advice was cherished by all who knew him. If I remember correctly he it was who introduced me to the joys of listening to opera.

Very sorry to hear about Br. Wright's passing. He was a decent man, and I still have fond memories of our school tour to France when he somehow managed to control a rambunctious band of young CBS students without losing our affection. May he rest in peace.

Sincerest condolences to the Wright family and the Christian Brothers Community on the passing of Clement.
Together with Br. John Kenny, Clement was instrumental in founding the CBS Pipe Band in Limerick.
The band made its debut in the St Patricks Day parade in Limerick in 1963 and is still going strong today. I joined the band in 1965 and became Band Director in 1998.
Over the years Clement maintained his contact with the band, attended a number of past member reunions and is fondly remembered.
On my own behalf and on behalf of all past and present band members I extend our sympathy on his passing.

Sincere sympathy to Matthew & Brendan and to Joan & Rita, and to the Christian Brothers community on the death of Br Wright. As principal of Meánscoil Iognáid Rís (Naas CBS),from 1989 to 1992, he was unstinting in his dedication to improving all aspects of school life and handed on a school of excellence to the first Board of Management and first lay-principal. But more than that, he is remembered for his great personal kindness and respect for others. He put everyone ahead of himself and always sought to do the right thing. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam uasal.
