Br. Seamus (Seamie) Crowe

I have such lovely, fond memories of Br. Crowe. Wonderful days in Ardscoil Ris & the OBI. Evening tea in the parlour with cake. My condolences to his family.

I am saddened with the passing of Br. Seamus. Like some of the previous contributors, I met Br Seamus for my Leaving cert cycle, 1988-1990 in CBS Roscommon.
I found him affable and genuine. With us pupils, he got his point across. Yet fair and encouraging.

Deepest condolences to the family and friends of Brother Crowe. As a past pupil of CBS Roscommon while Brother Crowe was Principal, I can only say that I held him in the highest regard as a kind and understanding gentleman who radiated so many positive traits that were hugely influential for so many going through school.

Sincere sympathy to Brother Seamus's family and to his confreres. He taught me Irish and Latin in Baldoyle and Balheary. I have fond memories of him as the kindest of men and a teacher who gave it his all, a true Christian Brother. It was a pleasure to meet him later on, in Dublin and in Roscommon. The news of Brother Seamus Crowe's passing evokes fond regret and memories of the CBS Roscommon in the late 80s/ early 90s. He was, I am certain, a compassionate, invested Principal who continually engaged with students and established that a conversation with him was not at all to be feared. My condolences to his family, friends, colleagues and wider community.

He was so progressive and way ahead of his time. Non judgmental and supportive of the students. A larger than life character - always with a big smile - who enjoyed the banter. He leaves a massive legacy having impacted so positively on many, many lives - mine included. May his kind and gentle soul rest in peace.

Comhbhrón óm chroí le clann agus cairde Shéamais. I have such fond memories of Br Crowe from his days in Ardscoil Rís. He was so supportive of the Comhaltas branch that was founded there by the pupils and his colleague, Séamus Cassidy. It was such a vibrant community of musicians, dancers, and listeners of all ages. It certainly enriched our young lives. I enjoyed many an old time waltz with him at céilithe in the school hall and in the OBI at the Bingo committee's dances. I remember with fondness the carols around the crib after Christmas Mass in the OBI chapel. It was a privilege to have known him. Go raibh leaba i measc na naomh aige.

Saddened to learn of Brother Crowe's passing (RIP) and my sincerest condolences to his immediate family, his extended family, his community within the Christian Brothers, his former colleagues, and his many friends. Brother Crowe was an excellent Principal during my time in Roscommon CBS and I will remember him as a thoroughly decent man who championed the values of fairness, respect, and forgiveness.
