I offer my sincere condolences to the Family of Br. MacDonnell. Bro.Mac made a significant difference wherever He worked, His knowledge, experience and exceptional ability to have a positive impact on His students/football players is legendary. Playing for St. Kevin’s teams was a fantastic experience as Bro. Mac plotted the downfall of “Joey’s CBS or “St. Aidan’s” . His attention to detail allied to His enthusiasm on the sideline gave His players a great start in the game. As a result of His endeavours I have great memories have from my time spent in St. Kevin’s CBS in the early 1970s. May His Gentle Soul Rest in Peace.

Will miss meeting in Croke Park or on the beech in Laytown and chatting about Drogheda and ancient skirmishes on the playing pitches, some of which saw us directly pitted against each other. Leaba i measc na naomh go raibh aige.
Sicere sympathy to all family and community.May he rest in peace. I am confident we will meet again.
Br. McDonnell was the life-force and energy behind building a 'new' school in Ballygall, Dublin 11, in the 1970s. He was Principal when the foundations were laid for St. Kevins CBS. and managed the building process so that in 1976, 500+ schoolboys could move from dreary damp prefabs into what was then a state-of-the-art school. He was a natural leader and instinctively knew how to engage others in projects that were close to his heart. He seemed to have an almost limitless amount of energy and was interested in the people and communities he served. He left a legacy behind him in Dublin 11 -- and a few good gaelic footballers -- and generations of students owe him a debt of gratitude.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam. My condolences to his family and friends.
