I was sad to hear of the passing of uasal o croinin. I have fond memories of my first diploma exam on my first job after leaving Mary I. I was indeed a very inexperienced teacher and he guided me along with great advice and encouragement. He returned the following year for second diploma and it was a very different story. I got a very good report from him which set me on the road to a great fulfilling career. I thought of him often over the years and was sad today to see his death announced. Breandan was a kind gentleman. Leaba I measured na Naomh go raibh aige.

My deepest sympathies to Ann and all of Brendan's family.

I had planned to be there this morning to pay my respects to Brendan - a last minute glitch precluded me from getting there in time.

We were next door nighbours in Meentogues. When I was a young lad growing up, Brendan was always around during holiday time and was held in highest regard and affection in our house.
Even though the Cronin name is gone from Meentogues for over 60 years, down through the years Brendan always made it his business to call when in the area - visits that were always treasured by my folks.

He loved all things Kerry. At a party in my Aunt's house in Clontarf he regaled the guests with his position that he was not a Proud Kerryman, but a Fortunate Kerryman. He listed fulsomely all the gifts bestowed on Kerry people who he said should always display modesty in dealing with others not so fortunate. Of course, his innate modesty did not extend to Kerry football, of whose superiority he was never in doubt.

He was great company and I am sure he leaves very happy memories.

Rest in Peace, Brendan.

Deepest sympathy to Anne and to the extended Cronin family on the sad passing of Breandán.He was a man of great talent who dedicated his life to the promotion of the Irish language and the establishment of many new educational ideas.He was a very caring and understanding inspector who was highly regarded and respected among his peers and teachers alike.

For many years, there has been great friendship between both the Mullooly and Cronin families.His visits to Rathmore were always happy occasions as Breandán was a great conversationalist and entertained us with stories from former times in Meentogues and from the old school in Rathmore.

Breandán had a deep love for all things Rathmore and Kerry .He was a passionate and lifelong supporter of the Green and Gold.

Mr Cronin as we always called him stayed in my parents house many summers with all his family & his sister Brid . They spend a few weeks holidays there in st Joseph’s clahane Glenbeigh many summers back in 70/80 . Great memories of a lovely family that we looked forward to coming every year .
