At Battle of the Axe Comedy and Open Mic Club, we were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of our dear friend and supporter, Brenda Finegan. I only found out with shock late last week, and it has been hard to take in, especially coming so soon after the loss of our friend Robbie. Brenda was a true friend to our club, performing herself, and always a welcoming, warm presence to both new acts and seasoned performers. Offstage she spoke with such pride for her family. I remember nervous but great chats about university life when her daughter and my son started Maynooth together - grants, courses, all things parents navigate! Brenda is a huge loss and we extend our heartfelt sympathy to all of the Finegan family in Dundalk. May Brenda rest in peace 🙏 🕯 🕊.

So sorry to hear your sad news! Brenda was a comedy graduate of my workshops which sent her on a brand new trajectory for nearly the last ten years! I met you, Eddie at one of her gigs in the Battle of the Axe- Hapenny Bridge Inn a few years ago. Always full of energy and passion for writing, publishing, producing, and performing comedy, and always so proud of her much loved kids, a great spirit and a lovely woman. She even kindly edited my comedy notes for the workshops which they needed badly.
My deepest condolences to you all, her family, and her friends.
Her dynamic presence will stay with us for a long time to come.

I first met her in Rathmines where we both studied journalism back in the day - and the laughs and good times we shared with our other Rathmines buddies remain some of my fondest memories. I am so very sorry to hear of Brenda’s passing. I knew her through standup comedy over the last six / seven years and she was always such a fun person to meet at gigs, with an excellent sense of humour. Above all she was incredibly supportive of comedians and really wanted more joy and laughter in the world. Her pride in her kids always shone through no matter what we were talking about.
