I was not able to attend the services live today as I was on a flight to Rwanda. I thought of Brenda as our flight path flew past Kilimanjaro and I think Brenda, of all the adventurous souls, would have understood. As I watched the service this evening when I landed, I saw that more than 800 homes had watched the service before me — in addition to all those in person with you today — what an incredible example of how far Brenda’s love and our love for her reached, to measure those those she touched in thousands…

For me, Brenda and my mom’s cousins in Ireland embody my childhood summers in Cloghane. From chilly beach days to fancy dress parades, Brenda knew how to make a memory special and how to spread joy and infectious laughter in the simplest of moments. My heart goes out to Gearóid, Muireann and Finóla, to her incredible sisters, and to all those who are missing and remembering Brenda today and always.
