I am sorry to hear of the passing of Brendan. I had the pleasure of working with him on several FAS projects in the town over the years - and there was no better man on this earth to keep the streets of Mountrath litter free. He was a gentleman, and a character - and I don't know anyone who ever had a bad word to say about him. My deepest sympathies to his family, and very large circle of friends. May he rest in peace

I first met Brendan upon moving to Bianconi Way in Portlaoise we decided in our infinite wisdom to form a residence committee for the estate over a bottle or six of what I was to later find out was home made wine. And thus began my friendship with the Murtagh family.

A true gent that always had a cuppa in the pot or an extra seat at the table. His golf game wasn't the best nor was mine but it made for some good outings.

I for one with miss the man who loved to tend for his plants and have a good chat while talking about horses
