He was a great character and would regale us with words of wisdom passed down to him from his Granny. The years never dimmed his memory when he recited" I am my own Grandpa". He will be missed. I loved his Dub accent,his stories and his encyclopaedic knowledge of Irish history. Heroes we were taught to revere without question from childhood were taken down a peg or two with “here, let me tell ya about yer man”. He instilled confidence, musicality and good humour in equal measure to his family - now that’s a legacy. I will miss him.

I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Brendan, a very kind gentleman. His support and encouragement meant a great deal over the years. My heartfelt condolences during this difficult time and my thoughts are with all the Brooks family. May you find comfort in the many wonderful memories you shared with Brendan.

So very sad to read of Brendan's passing after a long life, well lived. What a great loss for Frances, Deborah, Brenda and Leo and their families. No doubt he has a queue waiting to greet him up above, especially his wife Deborah and son Patrick RIP.
