Brendan CARTY

Our sincere sympathy to Nuala and all the Carty family at Brendan's sad passing. Sorry we were prevented from joining you to share the occasion, although were did a virtual attendance at the profound and warm farewell. We had the great luck of being his friend for many years and every day a good memory. Brendan was a funny man but much more. In particular I recall his help and support for Paddy Hickey in his later days.
Brendan lifted the humour in every company whatever the event. Forgive me but it would be wrong to leave his memory without a sample. At one banter somebody said all future Ryanair planes would have only outside toilets. Brendan chimed in that O'Leary had confirmed "he would provide no more single use toilet paper on planes".

It was with great sadness that I learned of Brendan's passing. Sincere sympathies to Nuala and Eddie and all the Carty family. I had the privilege of knowing Brendan for the past 25 years. He was a generous gentleman with a BIG HEART and even bigger personality. I got plenty of slagging from Brendan over the years and he had the funniest yarns and jokes. It with great sadness when I heard of your passing Brendan. I had the privilege to have known you from The Braemor Rooms and The Dropping Well where you would have me in stitches with your endless wit and charm. I always meant to write them down but they would come thick and fast I hadn’t a chance. You will be missed. you put a smile on so many peoples faces. O how we need you today.

Brendan, You welcomed John and our family into your home with warmth and whit over the years. Bouncing the girls on your knee with the biggest grin on your face. Endless jokes about John and I getting stuck in the snow outside your house and having to dig out the car with a kids sand shovel. Only to be rescued by Nuala’s foot mat and your sound advice to start the car in 2nd gear. You and Nuala have stepped in like surrogate parents so many times with phone calls, meals, hugs, laughter and love. In my youth I always loved spending time in 66 and Brendan was one of the main reasons for that as he always had a joke, witty one liner and without fail always made you laugh and feel welcome.
We always looked forward to a gathering or party if we knew Brendan was there as you knew you'd laugh a lot and come away with a years supply of jokes.

To my dearest friend Shane, mum Nuala and siblings Eddie, Lisa and Aido, I’m so sorry for your loss. It’s safe to say that his like is the rarest kind. In agreement with me will be the many adults (now parents) who visited 66 in their youth. Brendan made these visits memorable, especially so on party occasions. He mc’d many such nights for our lot and would beam with pride at the conclusion of our individual party pieces. Thanks for the open house and the wonderful memories.
