Today, we bury Brendan at Aughavale, that great ‘portal’ to many of our friends and ancestors. I would like to share my condolences with Brendan's family and with the great many friends work colleagues and admirers that he brought happiness to during his generous life from Altamount St., to Prospect and all ports in between. Like many a son and daughter of Westport, he never lived too far from the sea and by all accounts he liked to travel. May his wishes be taken on board by the Oireachtas Committee on Assisted Dying to add to the heart-warming legacy contained in this uplifting Condolence Book. Slán, Covy!

I am so sorry to hear of the death of such a lovely man as Brendan, but I am sure he is in a much better and peaceful place - having a giggle with the angles ! I was first introduced to him about 20 years ago, socialising in Dublin. He was both a 'gentle' man and a 'gentleman', with a wicked glint in his eye and always smiling, an infectious personality.
It has been a privilege to have had him in my life.
I will always remember him.

I first met Brendan in the mid seventies, in Dublin. I don't think I ever bumped into him without seeing him with a big smile or grin on his face. He was a genuinely kind and decent person. Ar deis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.

He was one of the funniest characters that we ever met,in fact id go as far to say he could make a cat laugh on occasions. May he Rest in Peace with the angels.
