Sincere sympathy to Marie and all the Dowling family. I worked with Brendan doing electric work for Williams Electric shop which was near the old Picture house across from Healy's Dairy. We worked on the new school building in Causeway in 1957/8. I lived across from " Dolly's " shop next to Walsh's house. I am living in San Francisco since 1960 . I always looked forward to meeting him when I went back on holiday's. Brendan was one of the "old" Rockies in the Gallow's Fields area and he will enjoy meeting a lot of the old " Rockies" waiting to meet him and make him feel at home. May he rest in peace . The Executive and members of Austin Stacks GAA club wish to extend our deepest sympathies to the family of our Club President and former Chairman Brendan Dowling. As a player, mentor, administrator and latterly our esteemed President, Brendan was a hugely influential figure in the Rockie story since the 1950s, and his legacy and vision directly benefit every young 5 & 6 year old who steps foot in Connolly Park for the first time. Brendan was peerless when it came to the sheer effort and volume of hands-on work he undertook for the Austin Stacks cause and the club owes Brendan a debt of gratitude that it owes few others. This great Rockie, townie and Kerryman will be greatly missed by everyone in the club and well beyond the Rockie realm. Go ndéana Dia trócaire ar a anam dílis.
