I was saddened to read of Brendan’s untimely passing, and at this time of year. His remarkable work with the team that published Kilronan:Then and Now (2010) will be a lasting monument to his standing in the locality, and his contributions to the life of the parish over many decades. Not all editorial names feature on the title pages but he is there in several photographs, not least Keadue National School, 1960. Three years later we sat together in first year at the Presentation Brothers, Carrick-on-Shannon, he cycling the 9 miles each way every day. Within years, he was teaching himself, his tact, intelligence and multi-tasking only matched by his genuine care and concern for others. He will be greatly missed. Our deepest sympathies to Mary and the Kelly family on your inconsolable loss.

Brendan was a brancardier with the Ardagh Lourdes pilgrimage for a number of years.His service was exemplary and the attention he gave to our assisted pilgrims was beyond reproach. Courtesy and kindness were just part of what he exemplified. We were so grateful to have had him as a team member and his memory will always be with us particularly at our Ladys shrine in Lourdes.Our Lady of Lourdes and St.Bernadette pray for the repose of his soul.
