Mrs Mackey, we are all very sorry to hear that Mr Mackey has died. He was a lovely gentleman and will be greatly missed in Sandymount. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Anthony, Colm and Daragh and extended family at this very sad time.
Brendan was my godfather and he is/was a magnificent man, it was not so much his stature (which was certainly a presence in and of itself) but the light he brought with him as he entered a room. I will treasure his Sunday visits, his disticntive voice, his sense of community, his stories of the past (pleading with his mother to wash the soccer jerseys' of the team), we lost a good man this week and as I've said before it will take at least 10 to replace him. Thank you Brendan for everything you did for everyone, thank you for being my godfather and may you rest in peace knowing you made your mark and left the world being a better place for having you be a part of it. I am blessed to have such treasured godparents in Brendan and Maureen, I love you both. with love xo
