To Brendan's wife and family, Alan & Maudie our sincere sympathy and thoughts with you all at this very sad time.
I first met Brendan many years ago - WIT 1979 I believe. We both started the new Computer Programming course - it was the first in the College. He was a character then - young and free, giving us many a laugh. Years later (2000), I joined SunLife and obviously we got to know each other again. A little more mature now ( both of us ), he had many obstacles to make it a success. He headed those obstacles up as a caring leader of the employees, knowing each individually by name. Simply, Brendan was there for you. He will be fondly missed. My deepest sympathies to you, and your family. Rob
My deepest sympathy to Brendan's family. I worked with Brendan in the eighties in the then Post and Telegraphs Computer Unit, Dundrum. I am sure all his ex-colleagues from that time are desperately sorry to hear of his way too early parting. He was indeed a gentle soul.
Mary and Family, Sally and I are so saddened to hear the news. We first met Brendan many years ago when two Americans with an idea for a IT went overseas and met Brendan (our first interview) in Dublin.

Brendan was a gentleman from the start, and always remained so. His warmth, caring, intelligence and professional approach won us over immediately. He did a tremendous job building the Waterford Ireland operations -- he was respected by his employees, his peers, town officials and everyone who met him. Many years later we created a similar operation in Carlow. In the planning stages, I brought my boss to Ireland and we had dinner with Brendan -- it was the first time my boss had met Brendan. After dinner, he said, 'We have to hire him -- we can't do this without him.' And that how Brendan was -- upon meeting him, you were immediately his friend.

But I really think of Brendan not as a business associate, but as a wonderful father, leader, and person. Brendan taught us all how to live a life with dignity, grace, and love. We are better for knowing him, and we miss him.

To all the Maher Family, it is with great sadness we heard the news, we remember Brendan's brother Gerry and hope they are both together singing in Heaven. May Brendan rest in peace.
My deepest condolences to family and friends of Brendan. I worked with Brendan at Unum for a number of years. He was a very good man. During one of my visits to Ireland, my mother and friend came for me to tour them around Ireland. The first night Brendan took over the tour guide duties. My mother still talks about his kindness and beautiful voice.

May he rest peace...
