I have fond memories of working with Brendan for The Corkman. His calm demeanour and easy going nature made him a joy to work with. Brendan had great knowledge of the newspaper industry and he will be sorely missed. Sincere sympathy to all the Malone family on Brendan's passing. May he rest in peace.

I had the honour of working together with Brendan for 6 way too short months during my work experience in Ireland back in 2006. I loved every second of it and that was also because he made me feel welcome right from the start. I will never forget how good he was to me and I will be utterly grateful forever. I am so sorry to hear he has passed and want to express my condolences to his family. So so sorry for your loss.

Brendan was a kind-hearted soul who brought passion, integrity and warmth to everything he did at the Corkman. His unwavering dedication to storytelling and his commitment to the community will be fondly remembered by me, and all who had the privilege of working alongside him. My sincere condolences to the Malone family.
I was told to sit in an empty seat next to Brendan on my first day as a cub sub editor in the Examiner newsroom in early 2000.
‘Watch and learn from this guy,’ they said.
Brendan could have rolled his eyes and not bothered. But he didn’t.
He was patient, kind and generous with his time, always ready to answer a question - even the stupid ones.
And I asked many stupid questions over the following weeks.
But he always had an answer, or a gentle word of advice. He was calm, fast and accurate - unflappable even during the busiest of times.
Humble and unassuming, he always had time for a joke and a laugh.
He was witty, sharp and smart, solid as a rock and sound as a pound.
I will be forever grateful that I got that empty seat next to Brendan all those years ago.
May his gentle soul rest in peace.

I was shocked and saddened this Thursday when I became aware of the death of Brendan Malone. I did not know he had been ill. I had alot of dealings with him from time to time when the Mitchelstown Notes did not arrive on time. He never panicked and was always so helpful. May He Rest In Peace.

My sympathies to Brendan’s children, wider family, friends, all who loved him. We were friends in UCC and he was enlightening, a good sport, very welcoming and patient. We once shaved off half his smig. Good memories. Ní bheidh a leithéid arís ann.
