I was so proud to receive the Brendan Martin Cup for the first ever, Senior Championship, as captain of the Tipperary Ladies Gaelic Football team, in 1974. I'll always treasure my meeting with Brendan, last July in Thurles and also in Croke Park while meeting friends associated with Ladies Gaelic Football.

Condolences to the extended Martin family. Great memories of music sessions and sing-songs with Brendan and the Martins in Naas - a wonderful whistler, singer, and raconteur. He has left a great legacy and will be missed. RIP.

Cormac gave such a fine eulogy with a great love of family shown for his late father, for you, his mother and his brothers.
Brendan's passing leaves a very great loss also in the Achill August community along with the others lost in 2024. Its time also to be thankful for all he has done for that communnity (and along with so much given elsewhere) over circa, a 50 year + time-span. Rest in a deserved Peace, Brendan.

It is with great sadness that I heard of Brendan’s passing. His father was a cousin of my mother’s and she always expressed great fondness and admiration for all his family. A founder of the LGFA, a lifelong supporter who had a vision for ladies football that not many people shared 50 years ago. His goal was achieved when over 50,000 people attended the Ladies Football Final. He was a true legend, sportsman, musician and a great storyteller. He was much loved and will be missed by many.
