I knew Col McCann very well and met him on many occasions throught our military careers.
He certainly was a fine gentleman and favoured me with a major request made to him at one time.

We met first in the Cadet School, then later in Cyprus. After a gap of many years we met again after Mass in Sarajevo. He was still the same fine man I remembered from 40 years earlier.

My condolence to Noel and all the McCann family. I will always remember Brendan as being a very wise and gentle person, with the temperament of a saint. The hours spent with him, commuting across the Wicklow mountains to the Curragh, were very often the best part of the day. He gave me good advice and I will always be thankful to him for it.

That He practiced his Religion as a Christian amongst his family and the wider community

To Patrick, Hughna, Claire and Scott, sorry I can’t be with you today but be assured that your father was always very proud of each of you and your achievements. He was a kind and sincere Leader who always looked after his troops and always saw the bright side of life with his humorous nature. He shaped my life in many ways with his prudent advice, motivation and selfless style of influencing. I’m sorry we haven’t met in person over the last couple of years despite our efforts, but my memory of him will last a long, long time and the good times we had and the challenges we conquered.
