Rest in pice Brendan
We, Animal Health Training and Consultancy Service (AHTCS), are deeply saddened to hear about Brendan's passing. Although we did not have the privilege of meeting him in person, we had the honor of working together on the Community Livestock Production Strengthening Project(CLPSP) in Nepal in 2006 and the Women Empowerment Project in 2004 in collaboration with Bothar Ireland.
We are grateful for the opportunity to have contributed to meaningful work alongside him. During this difficult time, our heartfelt condolences are with his family, friends, and colleagues.
May his soul rest in peace.

May Brendans gentle soul rest in peace, we have wonderful memories of Brendan here in Shelton Abbey where he delivered many animal husbandry training courses to the inmates through our mutual involvment with Bòthar, the inmates also had great respect for Brendan because he had the great talent of being able to communicate with everyone with the odd story thrown in for good measure. Last training course was always timed so he could purchase non stop begonia plants from our poly tunnel for his wife Kathleen's beloved garden.

Kathleen and family, deepest condolences. Through Bóthar and VIVA Brendan found a sustained future for hundreds of communities in the developing world. With sleeves rolled up in Ireland’s marts, he prepared livestock to leave Ireland and their generous donor families to travel by land, sea and air to poorer countries. Often overseen and accompanied by him personally. He was on the ground as buildings smouldered just after war in Eastern Europe, as central Africa suffered genocide and central America suffered devastating effects of a powerful earthquake. He found solutions through agriculture and veterinary interventions for many other countries struggling with poverty and injustice. He negotiated safe passage, at international governmental level, for thousands of Irish livestock donations to faraway developing countries employing his wisdom, empathy and charming nature with the greater good at the forefront of his mind. There was many a perceived insurmountable challenge that was straightened out by Brendan with warm diplomacy and a great understanding of international veterinary health requirements and statutes. Over four decades helping the poor, Brendan provided advice, guidance, enduring friendship, and a steadfast commitment to help those less fortunate.
What great memories from cargo planes traversing the world together laden with heifers, goats, pigs, hens… He will be missed by all those whose lives he enriched across the world.

All of his activities; support and fundraising went to shipments of goats and heifers to countries like Uganda and to Kenya. That everyone could say of their lives that they had done such good. Really sad to learn of Brendan's passing. Sincere condolences to Brendan's wife and family at this very sad time. Brendan and I were classmates in St. Mel's and afterwards spent a year together at Ballyhaise Agricuktural College. We met many times over the years at the home farm where Brendan provided outstanding veterinary services for many years. Our last meeting was in Longford when I was back home in 2018. Rest in Peace Brendan - you were a true gentleman.
