I have known Brendan for over 40 years and I was shocked to hear of his sudden passing.
I have very fond memories of our time together in AIB and offer my sincere sympathy to Shauna,Martin and the extended Rafferty Family.

I am a weekday attendee at Mass at St Mary & St John of Wolverhampton. It was during the reopening of the churches during the pandemic that I met and got to know Brendan. Sadly, I never knew his surname and I doubt that he knew mine! We were both volunteers to act as stewards and helped each other whether it was our appointed day or not.

It was because I did not know Brendan's surname (or that he was called Brendan and not Patrick) that I missed the notice for his Requiem Mass on 4 May. Incidentally, I was at Mass at 10.30 am on 4 May! Today I saw a bookmark card left at the back of the church and recognised a likeness to Brendan but felt it could not be 'steward Brendan'. Sadly I was wrong and felt overwhelming sadness. Brendan asked me to pray for his sister Annie which I did - he was always concerned for his family.

Brendan was always cheerful and a great person. I will miss seeing Brendan at Mass and for those who try to reach heaven he will be high on Our Lord's list! I asked Fr Pawel to offer a Mass for the repose of Brendan's soul on Wednesday 18 May which I shall attend. Love to Brendan RIP xxx
