To Noel and the Ryan family I offer my sincere sympathy on the passing of your dear brother. Brendan was a wonderful teacher who taught me Latin at Marist College in the late 60s and excelled in his chosen profession.
Regrettably our paths crossed infrequently throughout the years and I am very sorry to learn of his passing.
As a boy of 12/13, Brendan saved me from certain downing at The Yacht Club on Lough Ree and furthermore provided the vital encouragement to get back into the water again. I owe him my life.
