I too was one of the class called to the Bar in’69 with Brendan. We also had been schooled in the Sem in Monaghan together. He was always the absolute gentleman and a good colleague. My deepest condolences to you all on your loss.

Sincere condolences to Nuala and all her lovely family, and to the Toals.
Brendan & my late husband John were called to the Bar in 1969.
They shared a flat in Clonskeagh for some years and were firm friends. Many happy memories. Sadly I am away & will miss the funeral.
May Brendan rest in peace.

My thoughts and prayers are with Nuala and the Toal family on the death of Brendan. He never forgot his roots in Smithboro and always had a great welcome whenever we met in Dublin or at home. Sorry I am unable to attend his funeral mass. May Brendan’s soul rest in peace.
It is with great sadness to hear of the death of Brendan. There was always a great bond between the Toal and Leonard family in Smithboro down through the years, even though on the opposite sides in politics. The Toal’s and Leonard’s went to national school together. Brendan Toal and Jimmy Leonard had the honour to serve as TD’s together for Monaghan constituency from 1973 to 1977. A small village/rural area in County Monaghan having two representatives in Dáil Éireann, what an achievement. We always had a great chat with Brendan whenever he returned home.
To Brendan’s wife Nuala and their family we send our condolences.
May Brendan rest in peace.
