I was planning a trip back to Ireland to see Brendan regrettably it’s loo late. Our condolences to Mairead, Christopher, Mark, and Leanne.
I have known Brendan for over 50 years. First as a neighbour then classmate at Presentation College Bray; above all as a friend. He will be sadly missed. I have known Mairead for over 40 years and her sisters even longer. As teenagers, her sisters and I worked together at the International Hotel in Bray.
I will always remember Brendan as a family man. He spoke of his love of Mairead and how happy he was to have met her. All the ups and downs in life brought them closer together and their marriage is an inspiration. Brendan always spoke highly of his children and grandchild and it has been nice to see them grow up and become wonderful people. Your family are a credit to both of you.
I moved to Denver Colorado many years ago but we always kept in touch. Any time we went home we always loved meeting Brendan and Mairead at Holland’s Bar to catch up.
Brendan once said to me “Let your smile change the world but don’t let the world change your smile.” Brendan- I’ll miss your smile.
