In pre marina Dun Laoghaire we use to be brought from the National Yacht Club slip in the launch under the Carlisle & St Michaels Piers to "The Depot" where we were moored. On these twice weekly runs we got to know the Barrys as we were moored beside "WilliWaw". Brian and Anne put so much into sailing administration, running events and introducing new people to sailing. Brian's opinion and advice on club related matters was always sound, sensible and valuable. Thank you Brian for all you contributed and your friendship. R.I.P.

impostor was the name of the Impala shared by Brian,(then Commodore of the NYC),Niall Pelly and myself. The delivery trip from Swansea was hair-raising...did not go to plan...to arrive into Dun laoghaire for Saturday night dinner. Weather was heavier than expected and turned into a Force Northerly wind which had us grateful to arrive drenched into Dunmore East, and that thanks to the seamanship of crew member , Chris Daly, who espied a problem with a stay , and repaired same preventing what could have been a catastrophic dismasting incident.had we come about .

My condolences to Brian's family.I had seen Brian a few times pre-pandemic in the nursing home in Bray .May he rest in peace.

Brían and Anne were inseparable on the waterfront. Brían was a warmhearted workhorse at all the tasks he approached. It was always a pleasure to be with him. I am only sorry that we did not have the opportunity in his later years to reflect on happy memories and humble achievements.
We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Brían. We looked forward to his visits here to the hotel which began all those years back when himself and Martin first brought the Dun Laoghaire to Dingle race here to Dingle. We will miss his visits and are thinking of you Suzie, Owen, Clodagh and your family at this difficult time.
