With very fond memories. Rest In Peace Dear Brian
I remember Brian fondly. A charming man with a lovely sense of humour. My late husband Tom, had met Brian on a holiday in Russia shortly before we marred. The three of us remained good friends. I became a good client of James Adams as I too, wss in the Antique business in the late 1970's and 1980's
May you rest in peace Brian. Wish I had known earlier of your passing.
Love Annx

So sorry to hear of the passing of Brian Coyle. He was a neighbour of my mother’s family and spent time in their house as a boy and adult. He was always a part of our lives and at every significant event. He will be greatly missed by us all.
The gavel has fallen for Brian. What a gentleman he was , always with the sparkling eyed humour , a master of the bon mot , a raised hand and a quick turn after the utterance. I first met Brian in the early 1980's through his friendships with the recently deceased, Ann Fuller. He enthusiastically
embraced the whimsical nonsense of the Green Carnation 'Drama Group' playing various roles including Canon Chasuble in 'The Importance of Being Earnest' and in other classics in various Dublin drawing rooms, collapsing the audiences with his knowing asides and 'in jokes'.
He was always fun and placatory and his wit at the auction podium relieved the tension in the heady days of the Celtic Tiger bidding wars.
Behind the scenes he was kind and welcoming and a warm guest and host.

So sad to hear this. So many happy memories of Brian over the years, from walks on Dun Laoghaire pier to the many dinner parties together. Love to all the family xx
I’m saddened to hear of Brian’s passing . He was a very dear friend, confidante & mentor . I have so many happy & downright outrageous memories of him & i’m so grateful to have known him. He was part of a very special ‘gang’ of my mother’s friends (Penny Kavanagh) & made every get-together great fun in his quiet but wickedly charming way.
Please accept my deepest condolences to all his family & friends. Much love , Marisa

My sincere sympathy to Brian's family and friends on his sad passing. I remember with gratitude his gentle stewardship of the Museum's Board of Visitors on which he represented the RDS from which the Museum is mainly derived. His knowledge of Irish furniture was always available to my curatorial colleagues. He presided over a positive relationship between Adams and the Museum which his successors have built upon.
I shall treasure the memory of that
distinctive deep voice and the civilised assurance it conveyed.

I am very sorry to hear of your death. At 91/92 you have had a good innings; I hope that it was generally enjoyable for you? The world has changed so much. You were at the helm of Adams from when it was a provincial auction house to it’s development into a considerable force, to becoming a national institution.
My condolences to your family and friends. You have left a proud legacy, RIP

My condolences to David and Richard of the passing of brother Brian and Particularly to James O Halloran and the Adams team. James was his great carer when in Belmont. Adams led by Brian and now by James continues as a rock solid component of the Art, Antique and Collectables sector in Ireland and is a very worthy legacy of their work.
May he rest in peace.

So sad to hear of Brian’s passing, what a lovely man, and always the gentleman. End of an era. I worked in Brian’s home and James Adam over a forty year period and always a joy to work for. He told us a funny story once how painters can fly, well I hope your flying now Brian this time with the angels, may you rest in peace

Very sorry to hear of Brian’s passing. I had many dealings with Brian through the IAVI over many years serving on committees and otherwise. A great and always elegant gentleman he was very good company and a great professional who made a significant contribution to auctioneering.

A great character has left our world. Brian Coyle was hugely respected and admired for his knowledge and expertise in the fine arts . He was also loved for his company . He brought charm , a droll sense of humor and a dash of mischief to every conversation. He seemed to have been with us forever, linking different times in Ireland and there for every new generation of collectors. I was blessed that he asked me to paint his portrait in 2009. He was a brilliant sitter. He will be so missed. Sincere condolences to his family and to all his colleagues and friends at Adam’s.
Brian was a very long standing and dear friend of the Cairnduff family. He will be missed but remembered fondly by all of us.
So sorry to hear of the passing of Brian. A thorough gentleman who one day over 40 years ago invited me in to Adams while I sheltered from the rain and gave me a 30 minute masterclass on the paintings for a forthcoming auction and by the time he was finished the sun was shining again. I have never forgotten the conversation and the life advice he imparted through the medium of art. May he rest in peace and may all the walls in heaven be adorned with paintings by his favourite artists. He deserves no less! Sleep easy!
BC was a veritable ‘institution’ himself. Condolences to all his family and friends.
Sincere condolences to all at Adam's on the passing of their Chairman.
Greetings, Please accept my sincere condolences on the passing of ‘BC’ on behalf of us all in O’Reilly’s Auction Rooms Dublin. I have fond memories of my time served in James Adam & Son on the Green. It is hard to believe that was over thirty five years ago. He was most encouraging when I launched The Rameses Gallery in 1993 and opened my first exhibition. ’BC’ as he was affectionately called in number 26 was a larger than life person and will be remembered in the fine art world long after his death. RIP Mr.Coyle.
