Brian Donovan

My deepest condolences to Paula and the entire Donovan family stateside. I have many fond memories of growing up in the same neighborhood with Brian (and his brother Paul). I was fortunate to visit Brian and Paula in 2005 and spending a few days with them at their stone house. I will miss Brian.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of our former colleague Brian. He was an extraordinary mind - his genius, wit, and kindness touched so many lives. His unwavering dedication to students and his ability to challenge and inspire both intellectually and personally made him a truly remarkable educator and colleague. His passion for knowledge enriched us all, and his contributions to educational sciences will leave a lasting legacy. Our thoughts are with Paula, his family members, many friends, former students who adored him, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His larger than life presence will be greatly missed around the hallowed halls and corridors of Trinity College where he was so highly respected and admired.

I was very sorry to hear of Brian's death,Paula. Sincere sympathy, to you and Brian's family. He was a very interesting and friendly man. May he rest in peace.

Brian was a wonderful friend, mentor and human. He exemplified what it meant to be an educator and left a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to have known him.

He had a deep appreciation for life in all of its forms, which was apparent through his connection with and kindness towards humans and non-human animals alike. His care and empathy for the world was exemplary.

He was a person of great principle and led by example. His wisdom was a unique gift which he shared with all. He was a testament to life itself and what it means to be human. He lived with purpose and died with dignity.

We are deeply affected by his passing and will miss him dearly.
His absence leaves a deep gap in our lives and his presence is a tremendous loss.

We are thinking of Paula both now and into the future. She has our most sincere care, condolences and love on the loss of a special life partner.

I was so sorry to hear of Brian’s passing. He was an inspirational colleague and teacher. You always came away from a conversation with Brian thinking about the world a little differently. He was so generous of his time and sharing his ideas with his students in NCAD and they loved him.

So sad to hear of Brian’s passing. My deepest sympathy to Paula and all his family and friends. Brian was a true original who saw the world from a different angle and imagined a way of living other than the conventional. Always cheerful and positive, he had an endless repertoire of sources, readings and references for an eclectic range of topics. He had a wonderful facility to challenge and question norms without alienating others. As such, he was an inspiring teacher. It was a privilege to work with him in NCAD. His students (and colleagues) will carry his impact through their lives long after they have forgotten most of their other classes. Shine on you crazy diamond.
