Brian Egan

My deepest sympathies to Brian’s family. Finding the words to express my condolences is still difficult as it’s such a shock that Brian is gone.

I can only share what’s already been said. Brian, you really were one of a kind, a breath of fresh air. So kind, compassionate, positive, funny, just so lovely. It really was a pleasure to be in your company. If it wasn’t your wit that made me smile, it was your gentle nature. But also your giddy, infectious laugh.

I hadn’t seen you in too long. I took it for granted that we would share a laugh again soon and that all would be the same, as was often the case throughout the years.

I feel very lucky to have known you, and so so sad that you are gone. I’ll cherish the memories, and mourn the ones that should have been, for you, your family and everyone who knew you.

My thoughts are with all Brian’s family and friends. Such a heartbreaking loss. He was one of the special ones.

Though I never met Brian in person and only communicated through mails but always found him so gentle and a thorough person. Really sad to hear about this. May God give solace and strength to his family and may his soul rest in peace.

Although I am not closely acquainted with Brian, I had met him through mutual friends. His passing was so sad to hear of. Our thoughts are with Brian, his family and his friends. May his soul rest in peace and may his family find solace in times ahead.

I can scarcely believe the news Bego, it has been too long since we last caught up. Our UL class was such a tight-knit group and you were always at the heart of it with your kindness, generosity and sharp, hilarious wit.

You were one of those people who didn’t need to be the centre of attention, but somehow made every moment better just by being yourself. It’s tough to believe you are not around anymore, but the memories of all the laughs and good times will stick with us all.

Sending lots of love and thinking of everyone who knew him. He’ll be missed. He was a great friend to anyone who knew him.

We were in secondary school together and though I didn't really know him since, I don't doubt that he was still kind, intelligent, humble and witty - always the perfect remark delivered at just the right moment. Brian, you were such a kind and good person. I taught you fiddle online for a while during Covid time, and though you hadn’t been playing long, it wasn’t long before I was having to learn things to teach you! I loved the challenge, and your talent and musicality was never in doubt, it was just a case of finding the time. We played in some of the same sessions, though on accordion your first instrument, you not wanting to ‘unleash’ the fiddle – it would have been a pleasure – and only starting a set when it felt like a good time for everyone. I was so sad to hear of your Mam’s passing, and every time I would pass through Derrybrien I would think on you and your family, happy to know someone from there. I thought we’d get to play a few more tunes, but I’m going to work again on those ones we played together. RIP Brian
