I had the pleasure of listening to Furier and Rory of the Kelts playong weekly in Fairview many years ago. Furier, kindly played at my wedding and I walked down the ailse to his ever haunting version of The Lonesome Boatman. Furier, you will never forgotten. I hope the music sessions up there are just as good as the ones I enjoyed with you here. A musical legend has gone but his music and memories live on. RIP.
Dear Jess, I am so sorry for your loss. What a lovely daughter you were to him. He will be watching over you now as you make him proud. Sending all my love. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.
Condolences to all the Furlong family. I knew Brian from my time playing music in the 1884 (aka Grainger's). He was always very supportive and encouraging. We spoke of music, gigs and of our shared love of football and Liverpool F.C. Brian was a gentleman always dapper and simply a friendly and lovely man to talk to, may he rest in peace.
Deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Brian on his death, may he rest in peace.
It is so sad to hear that Brian has left us.

I had the pleasure of working with him for a couple of years at the Canal Boat Restaurant — a true gentleman, always so kind and full of good humour.

We will miss him a lot, and his laughter and jokes will always be with us.

It was with deep, deep sadness I heard of Furrier’s death. Sometimes in life we meet the most impressive people, who leave their mark on you. Meeting Brian was one of those times.

May I offer my sincerest condolences to the Furlong family and especially Brian’s daughter Jess. What a huge loss for all of you but what a legacy he has left behind, a man you can be so proud of.

From The Lower Deck to Mother Redcaps, Saints, Brian’s humility belied his brilliance. He dazzled us with his music.

He was always great company, witty, funny, a joker and always a gentleman.

Brian was separate and unique.

I was shocked & saddened to learn of the Furrier's passing and would like to offer my sincere condolences to his family and fellow musicians as well as his many, many friends.

It's hard to believe I'll no longer witness his magical musical skills or indeed see that mischievous glint in his eye, which often lead to long nights, wonderful memories and adventures that shouldn't be mentioned here.

From Sunday lunchtime gigs in the Wicklow Grand, to chasing back to Saints for 5pm, life was never boring with the Furrier & the other Moonshine lads, but we wouldn't have had it any other way.

Finally, it would be remiss of me if I didn't mention Brian's charitable side, he was always more than willing to play a gig or give a hand out, in whatever way would help.

Rest easy my friend, you certainly deserve it and thanks for being you,
I guess that Boatman won’t be so lonely anymore

Our heartfelt condolences to Jess & all the furlong family on the passing of Brian. Jason & myself have fantastic memories & had great nights in the Lower Deck, when he was on stage with my Dad. Then through the years Cían & Dara would often see him in Graingers. Always good for a chat & a laugh. Sleep well Brian (Furtier ) xx💔
I was really sorry to hear about the death of Brian. My late husband Martin played with him in the Lower Deck with the wonderful Patsy Watchorn and the adorable John Deegan ❤️ They were fantastic times. I understand how hard it is to lose someone you love but hopefully the great memories will stay with you forever. My thoughts and prayers go out to Brian's daughter and family and especially his great friend Maureen.

❤️❤️❤️
The sad news of the death of Brian fills us with nostalgic longings for the wonderful Saturday nights in The Lower Deck - nights of sheer enjoyment! The Furrier playfully ‘kicking up’, followed by Patsy playfully coaxing him…”ah, go on, Furrier!” And could Brian inhabit his song or tune…you could hear a pin drop! Memories abound: Patsy performing wonderfully “The Dublin Minstrel”, Teddy Delmere beautifully re-producing Doc Watson, Mandy joining the band on stage with her lovely singing voice, Bridie on the door…..I could go on! Would that we could rerun it all even once more, for “we were young then and would never grow old!” Our deepest condolences to all Brian’s family, immediate and extended, his musical family and what must be countless friends.
So sorry that Brian has passed. Have listened to his amazing singing and musical talent over the last few years. We feel privileged to have such a talent. A pure gent. May you Rest in Peace. Lavinia and Eddie
