To Winnie and Family. Chloe and I have recently found out that Brian has passed away. Our condolences to you all. We remember Brian with fondness as we were growing up, He was a gentleman and an honour to have known him.
Many condolences on your sad loss. Brian was a great help to me when I first came to Trinity. May he rest in peace.
I was so sorry to hear of Brian's death. Brian lectured me when I was an undergraduate, and was always kind and supportive. Later we were colleagues on education-related committees, at which he worked tirelessly for consensus and harmony. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
Eleanor and I have just learned of Brian's passing. Brian was Head of Department during our very happy days in Trinity (early 70's to early 80's). His calm, patient, help was invaluable to me in the start of my career. I learned very much from the kindness of this brilliant man.
You are very much in our thoughts these days, and you have our best wishes.
Deepest sympathy to his wife and family on your loss. Brian combined a brilliant mind and personal warmth with a deep sense of duty. RIP.
I remember Professor Murdoch's kind and attentive support to DUMS back in the seventies (when I was an undergraduate) whether for the library (from the Rowe Fund) or the inaugural lectures (with a generous supply of Bewley's buns). I offer my condolences to his family now that he is at rest.
my deepest sympathies and condolences to the Family and Friends of Prof Murdoch
he was a true Gentleman that I knew from my time working in the Academic Common Room and indeed the old upper lunch Room too .
A true Gent in every way ,
May he Rest in Peace ,
Sad to hear of Prof. Murdoch’s death. I have wonderful memories of his lectures, always delivered in an academic gown, generally with half a pack of chalk dust on it, his habit of using every last scrap of blackboard space ( he never wiped the board ) and the highlight was his statistics lecture on the drunken west of Ireland man falling out of the pub at 4 am and going for a random walk. Absolutely one of the old guard who made Trinity magic. May his soul rest in peace.
My deepest sympathies to the family and friends on the sad demise of Brian Murdoch. He was extremely passionate for imparting quality Mathematical Education to Engineers and I had the privilege of knowing him extremely well.
I am deeply saddened to hear of Professor Murdoch's death. He always treated my late brother Hugh with great kindness and consideration when Hugh was one of his students. Please accept my sincere condolences at this sad time.
My condolences to all the family. Remembering Prof Murdoch who delivered the very first lecture I attended in Trinity College as an undergraduate in the School of Mathematics.
Our friendship goes back to Bray. He was one of the old guard. Sara joins me in extending our sympathy to the family.
With sincere condolences from all in Mathematics at Trinity.
Deepest sympathy and thinking of you all at this sad time.
We are thinking of you and your family at this time and offer our prayers and sympathy.
I have found these lines from William Penn helpful.
"Death is but crossing the World, as Friends do the seas; theey live in one and other still. For they must needs be present, that love and live in that which is Omniresent. In this devine glass, they see face to face; and their converse is free, as well as pure."
Sincere sympathy Winnie.
