I am very very sorry to hear of Brian’s passing , I was one of his PhD students in CPRU in UCC around 1994 to 1997. I admired his intelligence every day and was very thankful to land in his lab, he took us around the world to display our work generated in CPRU , from England to Prague to Russia, St. Petersburg to Moscow. He instilled confidence to no end in everyone in the lab. I was young and married at the time and had my daughter Aoife while doing my PhD and Brian accommodated me with no problem, and about a year later he had a daughter which in turn he called Aoife and I always thought he had called it after my daughter and felt very privileged. I am shocked to learn of his passing and my deepest condolences to all of his family, he lived life to the full, may he RIP

Deepest sympathy to Brian’s family on his death. When he was VP for Research in UCC, I remember him talking about his passion for all things French and about his early love of science (especially astronomy) which was fostered by his primary school in Carlow. He was a stalwart member of AMOPA/ l’Association des Membres de l’Ordre des Palmes Académiques en Irlande. Suaimhneas siorai da anam alainn.

Grace Neville (UCC, former President of AMOPA Irlande)
Sincere sympathies to the Harvey family on Brian’s passing. Many years ago he worked so enthusiastically with so many colleagues in UCC (including myself when I was Head of the Law Department at that time) securing funding under the PRTLI schemes. An intelligent, creative and committed educator and researcher.
May he rest in peace.
My sincerest condolences at the untimely passing of Brian.

He was immensely proud of his children and I always enjoyed seeing pictures and hearing stories about everything you were doing in your lives.

Brian always put 110% into everything and expected the same from his colleagues, sometimes calling the lab ‘ClubMed’ if he thought his students were slacking!

I will forever be grateful to Brian for his unwavering support when my children or Mam were unwell, balancing my work/family life.
My deepest condolences to all Brian's loved ones. I have been blessed with the friendship of his oldest daughter and remember Brian fondly with a wonderful sense of humor, hospitality and great stories! The triangle house "down west" was filled with all of these traits. He was a special man indeed and his children are testament to that.
All the best.
