My sincere condolences to the Hayes family. I knew Brian when we were teenagers and in our early twenties before he went to the States and I to France. I had always hoped to cross paths with him again. I think today would have been his birthday. Rest in peace Brian.
My deepest sympathies to the Hayes family.
I first joined forces with Brian when he was 16 at a Roller Blade Disco in Tralee during a training camp organized by Br. Dooley and Liam Moggin. There was a lot of demolitiion done that night. If only they told us blades had no brakes! However, when Brian put on the spikes, it was then he showed his true style and grace. He was uniquely blessed with all the qualities only found in elite athletes - Strengh, Endurance and Speed. And that's when he showed us how he would Demolish the opposition. Brian was always modest about his talent and would prefer to inspire and encourage others.
Our friendship only grew at Iona. Away from the Track and Cross Country was a joy and a gentlemen. He never forgoyt his roots an the pride of being a true Blue Dub.
Ar Dheis De a Anam.
Sincere condolences to the entire Hayes family on your loss. I was lucky enough to spend a lot of time with Brian over the years and I always enjoyed my time with him. His laughter, quick wit and all round good character endeared him to all who crossed his path. I will always remember him with a smile on my face. He is in a better place now. RIP my friend.

Sincere sympathy to Brian’s sisters and to all the wider Hayes family on your sad loss.
I joined the Ard Scoil Rís athletics squad in 1983 just as Brian was leaving bound for the States on a college athletics scholarship. Brian was an inspiration and hero to all of us who followed after him on Liam Moggan’s ASR athletics squad.
Brian achieved the dream we all had as schoolboy runners.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
Our sincere condolences to Ger, Roisin and Breffni and extended families and friends. Gone too soon, Brian had a terrific generosity in him and of course laughter was never far away. It was a gift he was happy to share. Our two daughters still fondly recall his visit to us in Kerry just a few years ago. I can still see them roaring laughing at his antics. I'll forever be grateful that they met him and that they'll have those memories. He is with his Mam now. Many thanks to his sisters who gave him such a terrific send off and tribute. May he Rest in Peace.
Ger, Breffni and Roisin,

I am heartbroken for Brian, you, your families and the many friends and lives Brian touched. The world was a better place with him in it. He brighten many days without knowing it and will be missed by more than he probably ever realized would. Though it’s been years since we have spoken I have thought of him often. I can only hope and pray he is at peace and I know he will always look over the people he loved, especially the three of you.

Sending love and strength during this incredibly difficult time.

We were so saddened to learn of Brian’s recent passing. For many of us here in the Denver area who were fortunate enough to get to know Brian he was an ebullient, witty, warm, sincere, supportive, caring human being. And he was the BEST storyteller bar none — despite many of his “stories” being tall tales in the grandest of Irish traditions. He loved “the drink” and many of us helped him stay away from it for a number of years here in the States — the “best years of his life” he often remarked. Brian touched many lives. Once you met him you never forgot him. What we will miss most about him — and will remember as long as we live — was his infectious, impish smile. We hardly knew ye Brian — but what we did know of ye we will be forever grateful for.

To his sisters we offer our deepest condolences. Please know that Brian was much loved by many people here in Colorado and will be deeply missed.

RIP good friend.

Very sad to hear the news of Brian's passing. Knew him Ardscoil Ris. He was a great middle distance runner, a natural athlete. However, my early memory of Brian was a 100m sprinter with ASR winning Leinster and the All Ireland track relay in 1979 under the coaching of Liam Moggan. I remember the fun he brought. A great teammate and friend. RIP Brian.
