What terrible news. Brian was part of our childhood and growing up in Ellison St and Rathbawn. The family shop in Newtown a favourite on our way home after school. In recent years I contacted Brian re family research. He was so willing to be helpful and was generous with his time and wide ranging knowledge. Brian RIP was such a kind, gentle and delightful person for Castlebar and Mayo people that we were so blest with him. I am saddened to read of Brian’s death. A classmate in St Gerald’s and another of the Leaving Cert class of 1971 to leave us. It is clear Brían devoted himself to his home town, its people and visitors and other areas in Mayo which has provided those he encountered with great memories. A wonderful legacy.
